What are we up to? | Family Update June 2020

Well, thanks to the arrival of some summer weather, we’ve been spending more time than usual prepping our garden. I would have to say that, during our walks, it seems as if everyone has the same idea; in fact, I’ve never seen our neighborhood gardens look better! We did encounter some criticism from Nick and Jonathon, however, when some of the mulch we used had quite a strong aroma of manure:) Anyway, I am happy to say that the smell has now dissipated and the gardens look fresh and neat. So far I seem to be doing a lot better with my outdoor plants than I do keeping the indoor ones alive:)

While it’s not always easy to find the “silver lining” in a bad situation, it can be quite surprising how good we feel from some of the simple things we do and tasks we accomplish. I spoke with a neighbor earlier today, and she mentioned that instead of taking the trip they had planned to Europe this summer, they are landscaping the backyard to enjoy the summer at home. For those of us who are not big on-line shoppers, I think we have probably amazed ourselves at how little we actually need to shop for, groceries and necessities excluded. Not to say that a little “retail therapy” is a bad thing from time to time..lol.

While we continue to see more businesses opening and people getting back to work, it will be more important than ever to buy and support Canadian made products to help our Country regain its economic strength.
