Staying Fit While in Quarantine

After waiting for three weeks, Nick and I were elated when our gym equipment arrived early last week. Before the much-anticipated arrival of our barbell, weights, and bench press, we hadn’t lifted weights in several weeks due to all of the gyms being shuttered. However, that didn’t stop us from exercising; it just meant we had to adapt to the new normal and modify our workout routine.

As some of you may know, aside from Real Estate, my other passion is fitness. I was drawn to fitness due to the variety of health benefits associated with working out. Exercise can elevate your mood, improve your sleep, and build up your immune system. Although Nick and I prefer training with weights, there are various ways to engage in physical exercise that don’t require gym equipment.

I suggest trying bodyweight exercises for resistance training. These can be push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, or bridges. Using bodyweight exercises can be more cost-effective and less taxing on the joints. Also, give yourself as much rest time as you need. However, don’t waste too much time, or you’ll risk losing your pump! Weight resistance training is most effective when it is combined with cardiovascular exercise as well. Going for a walk outside can be a great way to get your cardio session in, weather permitting, of course. Remember to set attainable goals for yourself, such as challenging yourself to walk a greater distance every day. Don’t get discouraged if you are unable to reach your goals right away. Be patient and enjoy the process. Stay fit!
