Household Upgrades To Keep You Busy!

Household Upgrades To Keep You Busy!

With the Government’s quarantine policy confining us to our homes, many of you are probably going stir crazy. I know we are! However, this may be an excellent opportunity to get caught up on some things around the house that you have been putting off! Here are just some of the ways you can be more productive during your time in isolation.

1. Painting: It is incredible what a fresh coat of paint can do! It’s the least expensive way to transform a room completely. Bruce and Patrica got to work last week painting wainscoting in the house, and were amazed to see how much bigger and brighter the entrance and hallway looked, just by adding a contrasting lighter color on the bottom. Also, consider taking care of touch up spots like baseboards, wall corners, and nail pops. We contacted our local Sherwin Williams store, and they had a great system in place: We called, placed our order with payment details on the phone, and they placed our items in the trunk when we arrived at the store.

2. Spring Cleaning: This isn’t the way any of us wanted to usher in the Spring season! However, this is a great time to do a deep Spring cleaning after a long messy winter. A good starting point is to vacuum the doormats to get rid of the pesky salt and grime we tracked in from outside. Maybe relocate the winter hats, mitts, and snow boots till next winter. Consider purging things you no longer use, such as unwanted clothes, knick-knacks, papers, books, etc. Sort through your closets and drawers, and prepare some bags of things you plan to donate once the quarantine ends. A great tip for cleaning windows and glass showers is a concoction of vinegar and blue dawn washing up liquid. It’s inexpensive, non-abrasive, and it works!

3. Rearrange Furniture: Are you bored with the current layout of your furniture? Give your space a fresh new look by moving around wall decor, artwork, and even rearranging staple furniture pieces. Patricia does this quite often, so we’re never sure where we’ll be sitting when we get home! If you have the kids at home, get them involved in changing up their bedrooms, and play areas. If you’re looking for ideas, feel free to give us a call.

4. Organize Photos In A Photo Album: Consider putting the kids to work by making up a scrapbook, or organizing photographs in a photo album. This is a great way to pass the time and lift everyone’s spirits. We have had so many laughs over the years, looking back at the old photos and hairdos!

5. Get Outside: weather permitting: The weather forecast is looking pretty favorable, so why not take advantage and get outdoors. It’s so much nicer to look out at your patio furniture, rather than tarps and remnants of winter. Maybe wash down your garage door and sweep your front doorstep and pathways. If you do the prep work now, you will have more leisure time to enjoy the excellent weather.
