It all began with pizza! Friday night is pizza night in our family, and it was during those deliveries that the Pizza Man would compliment me on how nicely my house was painted and decorated! That was when I decided that I take the leap of faith and try to turn my hobby into a business since I wanted to stay home to raise my 2 kids and not return to the corporate world.
I went to school at night for 2 years while I raised my kids during the day and received my Interior Decorating designation, with Honours, from Georgian College and completed my Home Staging designation a few years after that. I remember during my night classes, my instructor asked us to explain why we wanted to do interior design for a living. I stood up in class and talked about how I wanted to give ”real people real-life solutions to help them live better in their homes that won’t break their budget because everyone deserves a safe and comfortable home and money shouldn’t get in the way of that”. My Instructor told me that “I had a clear vision and passion about helping people and that is what Interior Design is all about”. It has been over 15 years now that I have had the privilege of helping many busy families live happier in their homes with my Signature Service, Redesign, that uses most of what you own to transform the forgotten spaces like Master Bedrooms and Home Offices, because I truly believe that Good Design isn’t about big budgets or major renovations. Good Design is about making your space work better so your every day living is easier.
Three years ago, my family moved from Barrie after 17 years, to the Halton area and it feels great to be back down south for me! Warmer weather, less snow, fantastic shopping and we are close enough to ‘pop-in” to see our kids who left home to attend university and college. Being “empty-nesters” took some time to get used to but now my hubby are loving it (but don’t tell the kids that)!
Patricia was one of the first women I met at a business networking event 3 years ago and we have since become fast friends, which is not hard to do if you spend any time with her! I am thankful to Patricia for her friendship, laughter and support because none of us succeeds alone!
