The lovely Glen Abbey community in the heart of Oakville is located about a 30 minute drive from downtown Toronto and about a 1 hour drive from Niagara Falls.
From the famous Glen Abbey Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, to countless trails for walking, biking, hiking or even photography, there’s lots to do and plenty of infrastructure including fine restaurants and the quaint ambience of downtown Oakville. Although Glen Abbey is primarily a residential community there are plenty of year-round activities for the whole family. In the summer, kids can enjoy one of Oakville’s many outdoor pools and splash pads. The recently upgraded Community Centre includes a four-lane indoor leisure pool, water slide, conversation pool with a capacity of over 150 people. Also housed in the same complex is the Oakville Public Library. Southwest Oakville borders from Dorval Drive to Third Line, south of Rebecca Street and north of Lake Ontario. Bordering Lake Ontario, Southwest Oakville is home to numerous parks including Coronation Park on the waterfront; award winning schools, including internationally renowned private school, Appleby College. South West Oakville is also home to Oakville’s state of the art YMCA. Within this area, there are two distinct neighbourhoods, Coronation Park and South West, which are bisected by Sandwell Drive. The Coronation Park community takes its name from the park located on the banks of Lake Ontario, which is home to the Oakville Waterfront Festival and many other cultural events performed in the beautiful outdoor band shell throughout the summer. The park also has a wonderful water park and play area for young families. This area offers excellent value, and as such, has seen many homes fully renovated or updated in recent years. South West residents are considered affluent families with great pride of home ownership, given the extensive makeover in renewing and transforming this neighborhood. There is easy access to the QEW and 403 as well as the Bronte GO train station.
Oakville’s River Oaks neighbourhood is nestled in northeast Oakville. It runs north of Upper Middle Road and south of Dundas Street between Trafalgar Road and 16 Mile Creek. Clearview, or Sherwood Heights as it is also known, is a diverse community, and a great place to live. It is bordered by Ford Drive to the west, the QEW highway to the north, Winston Churchill Blvd to the east and Royal Windsor Drive to the south. The location is ideal for residents commuting to Mississauga, Etobicoke or Toronto as it sits in the most eastern part of Oakville and is close to major highways and Clarkson Go Station. The geographical location of WESTOAK TRAILS is North of Upper Middle Road, West of Neyagawa, South of Dundas and East of Third Line. Bronte is a former fishing village which became annexed in 1962 with the former Township of Trafalgar, forming the Town of Oakville, and is the community that makes up much of the west end of Oakville. Twelve Mile Creek (known informally as Bronte Creek) flows through the middle of town and empties into Lake Ontario. Main roads include Bronte Road (north-south), Lakeshore Road West (east-west, parallel to Lake Ontario) and Rebecca Street (east-west). Streets in the business section include Lakeshore, Jones, Marine, and Ontario Street. Bronte is also accessed via a superhighway (the Queen Elizabeth Way) located to the north of the former village. Bronte has many schools, including Gladys Speers, Eastview and Brookdale (Public Elementary), St. Dominic and St. Joseph (Catholic Elementary), and Oakville Christian School, formerly John Wilson (Public Elementary).
